Reborn Packaging — UI/UX Design & Flutter App Development

Reborn Packaging is a UK-based ecommerce business providing sustainable and eco-friendly food packaging products for restaurants, cafés, takeaways, caterers, and other food-service businesses.

The goal was to transform the existing Shopify ecommerce experience into a dedicated mobile shopping app that makes browsing, finding, and ordering packaging products faster and easier on mobile.

Unicode IT designed the complete mobile experience, from user research, information architecture, and wireframes to the final UI design, reusable components, and production-ready screens. We then developed the application in Flutter for Android and iOS, prepared both versions for release, and uploaded them to Google Play and the App Store.

The existing ecommerce experience needed a more focused mobile shopping experience for customers who frequently browse and purchase food packaging products. That experience also needed to become a downloadable Android and iOS application.

Key problems identified during the UX process included:

• A large and diverse product catalogue made product discovery difficult on smaller screens.
• Customers needed a faster way to browse packaging categories and find specific products.
• Product variations, sizes, specifications, and pricing needed to remain clear on mobile.
• The shopping journey needed to feel simple from product discovery through checkout.
• Returning customers needed easier access to their accounts, previous orders, and delivery information.
• The mobile experience needed to support both quick browsing and repeat purchasing.

Designing and delivering an ecommerce mobile app for a large packaging catalogue introduced several UX and cross-platform implementation challenges:

• Structuring a wide range of packaging categories without making navigation overwhelming.
• Designing product pages that could clearly present images, variants, sizes, pricing, and product information.
• Creating intuitive search, filtering, and product discovery experiences.
• Translating an existing Shopify ecommerce workflow into a focused mobile experience.
• Designing cart and checkout interactions that remain simple while supporting ecommerce requirements.
• Maintaining consistency across a large number of screens, states, and reusable UI components.
• Translating the approved UI/UX into a Flutter application for both Android and iOS.
• Preparing both platform versions for release on Google Play and the App Store.

Customers can browse food packaging categories, search the catalogue, explore product options and pricing, manage their cart, complete checkout through Shopify, and manage their account and previous orders directly from the app.

Unicode IT delivered the Flutter application for Android and iOS and uploaded both versions to Google Play and the App Store. The client actively uses the application, and end users can download it from both stores.
